Face to face consultations are available by appointment at Moruya South Head, or online using Skype or zoom, which are encrypted for privacy and confidentiality
Your first 15 minute phone consultation is FREE. We can talk about what is concerning you, and you can decide if you would like to book in for a session.
This is one of those “how long is a piece of string” questions. The answer is really up to you. You may feel your issue has been addressed sufficiently after 1-2 sessions. Alternatively, you might feel that you would like to explore your concerns more deeply, and continue meeting regularly.
I usually suggest planning for 2-3 sessions initially. We can then review your progress and, depending on how you are feeling, you can decide if you would like to continue.
A referral is not necessary to make an appointment to come and see me. You may visit as often as you like, whenever it suits you.
While I enjoy meeting people face to face, I find online sessions are a great alternative for those who live at a distance, or are unable to travel.
Today, many of us are comfortable using zoom for work and social connections. Online therapy is no different, and we use platforms that are encrypted for privacy and confidentiality.
Many people find it easier to talk from the comfort and privacy of their own home. You can book an appointment for a time that suits you, make yourself a cuppa, and settle in for a chat.
Your appointment can be arranged to fit into a busy work schedule, and you can even have a session when you are away from home.
Most of my personal therapy sessions are done over Skype or zoom, with therapists outside my local area. It’s convenient, and I am able to access specialist support, according to my need a the time.
People usually see a counsellor about something that is bothering them in the moment. Using skills of empathy and deep listening, my aim is to help you feel supported, understood and accepted without judgement.
Psychotherapy, on the other hand, supports a gradual process of change by delving more deeply into the “roots” or causes of a problem, rather than simply addressing symptoms that may appear on the surface. The aim is to develop greater awareness, understanding and self-empowerment.
My training is in Process Oriented Psychology, helping you find solutions to your problems, based on the ancient concept of following your body’s innate wisdom.
An holistic approach to health recognises that symptoms do not exist in isolation. Rather than seeing a symptom as something to be removed, I see this as a message or sign to be followed.
Instead of simply talking, I might ask you how you perceive an experience in your body. Together, we will be able to gently unfold these sensory experiences, helping you to explore what might be underlying your disturbance. Releasing old patterns of behaviour can help you to find greater levels of self awareness, and a new sense of freedom.
The result is growth in wisdom, awareness and understanding.
