Counselling Support for Parents
A Time Just For You
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, you’re not alone…
Parenting can be rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting and we all struggle at times.
Counselling offers a space where you can talk openly, feel supported, and make sense of whatever is happening in your life.
You are doing your best, yet still find yourself wondering if you’re getting it right. Some days can feel like you’re wading through mud, continually striving yet you feel like you are going nowhere.
Life in the Twenty-first Century
Today’s world brings its own challenges.
You are also raising a child in a world that is very different from the one you were raised in, facing pressures your parents probably never even dreamt of.
You may be worried about your child’s behaviour, emotions, friendships, learning, anxiety, or development.
Perhaps you’re simply trying to make sense of what is happening and looking for answers.
Parent Self Care
In the midst of caring for everyone else, it can be easy to forget about yourself.
But you matter.
Your wellbeing matters.
When parents feel calmer, more supported, and better understood, family life often begins to feel different too. Children’s behaviour can shift, just like magic.
When we feel more emotionally balanced, it becomes much easier to tune in to what our children are really needing from us.
Time For You
Your counselling session is a time when you can feel safe to share your concerns, explore what’s happening in your life, and find support that feels right for you.
Sometimes it just helps to sit with someone who understands, and can listen without judgement.
Build Confidence as a Parent
Children don’t come with rule books. Parents often feel unsure about how to deal with big emotions, and learning challenges.
Maybe you would like to parent differently to the way you were parented, and feel unsure about how to do this.
Rather than trying to manage behaviour through strategies of punishments and rewards, I offer another approach, one based on understanding and connection.
It’s easy to see your child’s behaviour as a problem, but what if your child was trying to communicate something?
Parenting Support for Couples
Becoming parents can change the whole dynamic of your relationship.
Suddenly, you’re no longer just a couple, and there’s another person to consider. This bring a whole new set of challenges to negotiate within your relationship.
Taking the time to nurture your relationship, supporting each other as you navigate this new stage in your lives together, can help you to achieve your parenting goals.
Maybe you clash over parenting strategies and would like to feel like you’re on the same page more often.
If any of this resonates with you, you’re welcome to reach out when you feel ready.
Booking a free 15 minute call is a good place to start.
